Sept. 14 has a special significance for me. On this day in 2005, I was diagnosed w/ Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I didn’t fully understand what this diagnosis meant. I knew Leukemia was cancer but not much more. I quickly learned I had a 25-30% chance of surviving this type of cancer. Wow, in an instant I was fighting for my life. Fast forward, I endured 5 rounds of chemo & was blessed with a stem cell transplant in May 2016 that saved my life!
This unexpected, unplanned, unwanted journey was a turning point that changed almost every aspect of my life for the better. Out of a potential tragedy came a new understanding of me & the world around me. New focus-new vision-new life. I am a work in progress.
Yes, I am thankful, grateful & blessed. Fortunate to have family & friends who supported & loved me over the years!
Be kind to yourself & those around you. It’s going to be an amazing day!!!
